Hospice & Euthanasia
As your pet nears the end of their life, Virgin Valley Veterinary Hospital is there to help keep your pet comfortable and allow you and your pet extra time to spend together before they pass away.
Hospice care includes medication to keep your pet pain free yet able to interact with you and your family. Pets are almost always considered a family member in their household; therefore it is natural to want to ease into the next phase of life without your faithful animal companion.
Virgin Valley Veterinary Hospital knows that there can be no time more sensitive than when a pet passes away. When you and the doctor have made that hard decision to let your pet pass peacefully, our staff will be there with compassion and sympathy for you and your family.
Euthanasia is the use of medicine to end a life. This is usually done in several stages. Your pet will be given a sedative to allow them to relax and be calm. Next is medicine that will stop your pet’s heart and then their breathing. You may stay with your beloved pet throughout this procedure and our compassionate staff will be there if support is needed. You may take your time after the medicines are given to grieve and when you are ready, our staff at Virgin Valley Veterinary Hospital will help you transport your pet home.
